What Is The 7 Day Vegan Challenge About? Why Do It?

So a guy on YouTube who has over a million subscribers and opens every video with “peeeeeeace….” This guy’s name is Ralph Smart aka Infinite Waters (Diving Deep,) and he largely popularized the idea of going vegan for a week.

So What is The 7 Day Vegan Challenge About?

It’s this idea that you leave all animal products out of your diet for 7 days. No meat, no eggs, and no dairy products. Also it is highly encouraged that you broadcast your plan to do this challenge to your friends and family, this will keep you accountable. You are much less likely to quit when quitting means you’ll face the shame of other people knowing you’ve quit.

Why Do Vegan for 7 Days?

So what’s the purpose of this vegan diet, and why 7 days? I’ve been a vegan for over 5 years and I did it because I didn’t want to contribute to animal suffering. I later also found out the health benefits of a plant-based diet. But I largely stay vegan for the animals.

A lot of people misunderstand veganism, and the purpose of this challenge is to open the minds of the public’s misconception about it. So I think 7 days is short enough time that anybody can stick through it, but the duration is long enough for people to try it out and realize it’s not as restrictive and boring as they previously thought. Some people may continue doing vegan for another 30 days, or even decide to quit animal products all together!

What Do You Eat?

If you’re interested in doing the challenge, firstly you should know that there’s a healthy way to do it and an unhealthy way. It depends on your why, do you wanna try vegan for your health? For the animals? If you want to feel healthy and vibrant then you should go with the whole foods.

The Healthy Way

Fruits, vegetables, brown rice, potatoes, beans, lentils, chickpeas, nuts, seeds, whole grain pasta, etc You also want to go easy on the salt, and avoid the cooking oils altogether because natural whole plant-based foods provide your body with all the healthy fats you need. Man-made oils are not necessary. If you’re doing the 7 day vegan challenge you’ll probably have a bunch of people asking you “where are you gonna get your protein?” Just read this post and you’ve got your answer.

The More Exciting Way

If you’re coming from a diet of KFC and pizza every night, the healthy foods may seem very bland to you and this may cause you to quit very easily. So it may be easier for you to transition to veganism if you go with foods your taste buds are more used to. What are these foods?
