Welcome to this Vitamix Pro 780 G-Series Blender review!
This blender is actually pretty unique in that it’s the first Vitamix blender to come with 100% touch screen controls, so there’s no buttons, knobs, or dials to be found anywhere on the machine.
Personally I really love the modern look and overall design of this blender. But is it worth buying? Just because it looks nice doesn’t mean it’s worth the high end price tag.
In this review I’ll go over the good, the bad, and the ugly about the blender so you’ll know what to expect if you decide to spend your cash on it. Let’s get started!

Fully Digital Touchscreen Interface
The Vitamix Pro 780 is the first Vitamix blender to ditch the rotary knobs, buttons, and switches and come with a fully digital touchscreen user interface. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with buttons and knobs, but I do think that a touchscreen interface looks better and is much easier to clean.
If you spill something on the buttons and knobs there are a lot of nooks and crannies that it can seep into which gets really hard to clean and you gotta scrub all the corners really thoroughly. With a touchscreen interface all you gotta do is wipe it down with a wet towel.
However some people may prefer a machine with buttons and knobs because it does give you a bit more control, especially when your hands are wet or oily.
If you don’t like the touchscreen interface of the Vitamix Pro 780 then you may want to check out the Vitamix Ascent A3500 instead which is an excellent alternative.
Very Powerful Motor
The Vitamix Pro 780 is a powerful machine that comes with a 2.2 peak horse power motor base that produces 1440 watts. It spins the 4 inch laser-cut hardened stainless steel blades at 24,000 RPM which can blend and pulverize the toughest of ingredients from frozen fruits to nuts and coffee beans.
What I love about this powerful blender is that it can make lump-free smoothies that are silky smooth. There’s nothing more annoying than drinking a smoothie where chunks of non-blended ingredients sink to the bottom. With the 780 you won’t have this problem.
Making Tasty Hot Soups
Many people don’t realize that powerful blenders like the 780 can actually make hot tasty soups. I’m not just talking about blending up the ingredients to pour in a pot on the stove, I’m talking about heating up the soup IN THE BLENDER!
The friction generated by the blades can actually heat up the soup to serving temperature.
Just load up your ingredients into the pitcher and press the soup preset button and it will run the cycle and do it’s thing. In a few minutes you will have hot and tasty soup ready to serve, all without ever needing to turn on the stove.
Don’t believe me? Take a look at the quick video demonstration below:
If you think about it, a powerful blender like the 780 replaces several different kitchen machines. It can blend smoothies, chop vegetables, grind coffee beans, make frozen desserts, make soups, mix dough, and much more.
Basically it’s a blender, a food processor, a mixer, a soup maker, a coffee bean grinder, and a frozen dessert maker all in one!
Instead of buying all those different machines why not just get a high powered blender like this one and save yourself a bunch of money and kitchen counter space?
What Recipes Can You Make?
The Vitamix 780 is a really versatile blender that can whip up 1000s of different recipes. What, did you think that blenders are only for making boring ol’ smoothies? Here are just a couple of examples of what this blender can make:
- Smoothies (of course)
- Frozen fruit desserts like sorbet and ice cream
- Dips and spreads
- Baby food
- Hot soups
- Mixing dough and batter
- Crushing ice
- Grinding nuts for making nut butters
- Grinding coffee beans
- and plenty more!
Self Cleaning Preset
The Vitamix 780 comes with 5 presets, one of them is the self cleaning function. Yes, this blender cleans itself!
All you gotta do is fill 1/3 of the pitcher up with water, add in a few drops of dishwashing liquid, then press the “Clean” button and it will run it’s cycle and clean itself automatically in 60 seconds or less.
After it’s done just make sure to rinse it with water to make sure there are no soap bubble residues on your blender. Unfortunately the pitcher is not dishwasher safe so using the self cleaning function is the best way to clean it.

Another reason to buy it off Amazon is the ability to extend the warranty for an additional 4 years for a total of 11 years for over a decade of peace of mind. You can click to Check Price on Amazon.

Final Verdict: Is It Worth Buying?
The Vitamix Pro 780 blender comes with a lot of bells and whistles and has a modern touch with a fully digital touchscreen user interface. It doesn’t have any knobs or buttons which can be a good or bad thing depending on your preference.
You get 5 presets which includes smoothies, hot soups, purees, frozen desserts, and self cleaning. You can also control your blending manually with it’s 10 different speed settings, pulse function, and a powerful motor and blades. What more can you ask for?

If you’re looking for a blender with manual knobs and button controls you might want to check out the Vitamix Ascent A3500 instead which is in a similar price range and has many of the same features as the 780.
