Vitamix has come out with a new series of blenders called the “Vitamix Ascent,” they’re blenders that have a really modern and minimalist look to it. The Vitamix Ascent A2500 is the second blender in the series, and in this review I’ll go over every feature it has to offer plus the pros and cons.
On the first look this blender is pretty similar to the previous model Ascent A2300. It’s got almost the exact same interface, the same built-in timer, same 10 variable speed settings, and pulse. The only difference is that the Ascent A2500 has 3 different presets for Smoothies, Hot Soup, and Frozen Dessert which the A2300 doesn’t have.
You get the 1500 watt 2.2 HP motor base that is powerful enough to crush and pulverize any tough ingredient you throw into it, you can make not only smoothies but make frozen fruit ice cream, crush ice, grind coffee beans, grate cheese, chop onions and other vegetables, make baby food, make hot soup, and plenty more.
Vitamix blenders are generally quite pricey and the Ascent A2500 is no different. But it does come with a 10 year warranty and these blenders are built to last with high quality materials.

Interface / Presets / Controls
The interface is very simple and easy to use. There’s a rotary knob/dial at the center, 2 toggle switches on both sides of the knob/dial, and a built-in digital timer at the top.
The knob/dial is used to control the 10 variable speed settings as well as the 3 different presets (Smoothies, Hot Soup, Frozen Dessert.)
The toggle switch to the right of the knob/dial lets you start/stop the blending.
The toggle switch to the left of the knob/dial is the pulse function which lets you blend manually for more precise control, it’s very useful for making recipes that require less processing such as making salsa, dips, soups, etc.
64oz Blending Pitcher
The 64oz blending pitcher can blend up food that can feed up to 4 or more people at once, it’s perfect if you have a big family or household and need to make big batches of smoothies, soups, baby food, etc.
One thing I really like is the lid which is made of transparent see-through material. So it allows you to peek into the blender from the top and get a good look of how everything is blending.
Powerful Motor & Sharp Blades
The 1500 watt 2.2 Horse Power motor base is powerful enough to pulverize fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, stems, grains, beans, ice, and other ingredients. At maximum speed the blades can whip up silky smooth lump-free smoothies and drinks, or you can slow down the blades to make chunky soups and other recipes.
It comes with a 4-prong laser-cut hardened stainless steel blades that can handle the toughest of ingredients to allow you to make all sorts of recipes.
Built-In Digital Timer
There is a built-in digital timer that sits on top of the rotary knob/dial.
So instead of having to pull out your smartphone and set a timer, now you have one built right into the machine.
It takes out the guesswork and lets you avoid over/under blending something.
10 Different Speed Settings
The Ascent A2500 has 10 variable speed settings which are controlled by the rotary knob/dial at the center of the interface.
You can control how fast or slow the blades run by turning the knob/dial from 1-10, (1 being slowest, 10 being fastest.)
Having 10 speeds settings is useful because it lets you control how smooth or chunky your ingredients get blended. For example if you’re making chunky salsa and dips you’d want to use the low speed settings, whereas if you’re going for silky smooth drinks you’d want the higher speed settings.
Self Detect Technology
The A2500 is compatible with all Vitamix blending containers that has the “Self Detect” feature. What this means is that when you put different sized containers on the motor base it will automatically detect what size it is and adjust the blending times accordingly.
The A2500 only comes with the 64oz blending pitcher, but you can purchase other sized containers at places like Amazon.
What Recipes Can You Make?
Vitamix blenders are known for offering maximum versatility. Think you can only make smoothies on a blender? Think again.
This blender can make frozen treats in seconds, grind nuts, grind coffee beans, crush ice, mix batter, make nut butters, chop vegetables, make baby food, and much more. Also guess what? It can even HEAT UP SOUP.
You read that correctly, this blender lets you heat up soup without having to turn on the stove. Whaaat??
The heat is generated from the friction of the blades moving at about 37,000 rpm, in about 10 minutes you can have hot and tasty soup ready to serve without ever needing to turn on the stove.
How To Clean The Blender
My favorite way to clean a high powered blender like this is just to fill the container halfway up with water, squeeze in a few drops of dish detergent and then blend at the highest speed setting for about 30 seconds.
After that just pour out all the soapy water and thoroughly rinse it well under the sink.

The Ascent A2500 is priced in the mid-high range and so it’s not exactly cheap. On Amazon it has several color options such as Black, White, Red, and Slate. Some colors are less expensive, so the exact price depends on what color you choose. It comes with a 10 year warranty, but Amazon gives you the option to extend it. Is The Vitamix A2500 Worth The Price Tag?
The Ascent A2500 is pricey but it also offers a lot of value too, it’s probably the best blender in the Ascent series in my opinion.
It’s got everything – powerful motor, presets, different speed settings, digital timer, pulse, and the ability to heat up soup. All these things give you maximum versatility, what more do you need?
If you’re looking for a high performance blender that is built to last, the Ascent A2500 is definitely worth checking out. They’re not exactly for people on a budget, but it’s a high quality blender that comes with all the bells and whistles.
The Ascent A2500’s 64oz pitcher can serve 4+ people at a time, if that’s too big for you then you should check out the Vitamix E310 Explorian instead where it comes with a 48oz pitcher instead. It doesn’t come with presets but it’s more affordable and still has a lot of useful features.
Do you want to bring your smoothies with you on the go? If so then the Vitamix S50 is also worth checking out because it comes with a 40oz pitcher and a 20oz single serve smoothie cup that has a to-go lid.
