What Is The Oster Pro 1200?
It is a blender that came out around late 2015 and it is a low-mid price range blender with 1200 watts of blending power and 7 different speeds. It is similar to the NutriBullet blenders in terms of price and power.
When you’re looking for a blender, usually you’d either buy one with a big pitcher that you can use in the kitchen, or you could get something with a smaller jar designed to traveled with, like what the NutriBullet blenders are known for. But very rarely is there a blender that offers both large pitchers and small to-go cups.
With 1200 watts of motor power, it is no doubt powerful enough to liquefy your fruits and vegetables into a smooth and silky texture. Not only that, it can also be used for crushing ice, making baby food, making dips, home-made ice cream, and although some other reviews say that it’s not powerful enough to make nut butters, but you actually can. Although the smoothness and creaminess won’t be the best. But if you’re not too picky, you can definitely use it to make things like peanut butter and almond butter.
Power and Performance
This blender can get any job done with it’s impressive 1,200 watt motor. It’s power and capabilities are comparable to that of high end blenders like the Vitamix (1380 watts.) Smoothly blend all your ingredients into a liquid-like drink, it’s powerful blade can grind coffee, pulverize seeds, turn nuts into nut butter, and it can also crush ice at 900 watts of power.
How Noisy Is It?
It doesn’t perform quietly, like most blending machines it will make sure you know when it’s running.
Using The Machine
How To Use
There are 7 speed settings on this blender, which is more than most people would need. I mean, I’ve been using blenders for smoothies and other things for years now and I’ve never needed more than 2 or 3 settings.
It also comes with 3 preprogrammed settings:
- Green & Frozen Smoothies
- Food Chop & Salsa
Just push one of these settings and the blender will just blend until done and turn off on it’s own. It also has a pulse feature. I often use the pulse feature to blend banana smoothies 1 or 2 seconds at a time, this decreases the oxidation of the bananas which keeps it from going brown.
What Can You Use It For?
Obviously you can make smoothies and milkshakes which is what most people use blenders for. But in addition you can also make other things that needs blending or grinding: Pureed soups, baby food, coffee ground, nut butters, chopping things, and even making all-natural ice cream with only 2 ingredients.

Easy To Clean
This thing is super easy to clean. The big glass pitcher is dishwasher safe. For the smaller plastic to-go cup you’d have to wash it by hand under warm tap water. But if you’re using the smaller jar to blend and drink out of, then that means you only have 1 thing to clean up anyway.
- Powerful 1,200 watt motor
- Features 7 different speeds with 3 preprogrammed settings
- Good pricing and value for a low to mid range blender
- Comes with a large pitcher and a smaller jar, giving you flexibility. Use the big pitcher for blending big batches in the kitchen, the smaller jar with lid allows you to bring it with you while traveling to work, gym, picnic…etc
- Has an extra wide 3.5” stainless steel blade
- The 6-cup glass jar is dishwasher safe
- 3 year warranty – 3x longer than it’s competitors like the NutriBullet blenders
- Some users complain the glass pitcher is too heavy
- Makes a lot of noise when it blends
- Manufacturer doesn’t specify whether it’s made with BPA free material or not
- Only comes with 1 to-go cup, as opposed to multiple sized to-go cups like it’s competitor, NutriBullet.
What’s In The Box?
The Oster Pro 1200 Set Includes…
- 1x motor base with 1200 watts (900 watts for ice crushing)
- 1x large 6-cup pitcher
- 1x to-go 24oz smoothie cup with lid
- 1x extra wide 3.5” 6-point stainless steel blade
- 1x Instruction manual
What gives the Oster Pro 1200 an edge against it’s competitors is it’s awesome warranty. You get a 3-year satisfaction guaranteed warranty on the machine, and a 10-year warranty on the rotating metal blade. Similar blenders like the NutriBullet, NutriNinja, and Magic Bullet, all comes with just a 1-year warranty. The Oster Pro 1200 definitely has the advantage.
Value For The Price – Is It Worth It?
It’s actually pretty hard to find something even close to the Oster Pro 1200 when it comes to value and price. When you’re looking at the blender itself and comparing it to it’s competitors like the NutriBullet blenders, it’s somewhere in between a NutriBullet 900 and NutriBullet RX in terms of power and capabilities, but at a more affordable price.
With the Oster Pro, you’re getting a commercial grade blender with a 3 year warranty for a price that is considered on the lower range. Terrific value for the price overall.
The Final Verdict
It’s a perfect medium sized mid-range priced blender that is powerful enough to do pretty much anything, it can liquefy almost any ingredient, pulverize seeds and stems, can make all types of shakes, frozen desserts and drinks, and even make nut butters.
Most people would find it’s capabilities more than adequate. It’s not too big and is compact enough to easily fit on most counter tops.
Because comes with both a big and small blending container, it has the versatility to fit a diverse range of lifestyles. For example, with it’s big pitcher you can blend a big batch of smoothies in the morning for the family, then with the smaller jar you can blend it for to-go before heading off to work.
Or if you’re like most type of people who don’t like cleaning up, the smaller cup works in your favor, you can blend and drink it right out of the same cup which saves you some clean up.
If I were looking for a blender that’s not too expensive but can still get the job well done, I’d definitely go for the Oster Pro 1200.
