What Is The NutriBullet RX?
Released in late 2014, it is the most powerful blender from the Bullet brand to date. With 2.3 horsepower and a motor of 1700 watts, it out-powers all the previous models such as the NutriBullet 600 and NutriBullet Pro 900 by a long shot.
It comes with a 30oz and 45oz jar for blending and a 45oz pitcher for making soup. The RX model introduces 2 new key features, the heating element and the Self-Monitoring And Reporting Technology (SMART) which allows for hands-free blending. The RX’s 45oz jars are also much bigger compared to it’s predecessor models.
The NutriBullet RX reviews and ratings are very high. Users praise it for it’s ability to quickly turn any raw ingredient into a smooth blended drink, as well as the cool new features added in for increased convenience and a unique blending experience.

Power and Performance
The RX model is the most powerful Bullet blender to date. With 2.3 horsepower and 1700 watts of motor power, it is comparable to some of the high end Vitamix blenders in the market today. To give you a better idea of how powerful the RX is, the Vitamix 5200 is one of the most powerful and popular full-sized blenders on the market today, and it has a 2.0 horsepower and 1380 watts.
With this much power, the NutriBullet RX can make flawlessly smooth blended drinks, shakes, and soups. It can pulverize your fruits and vegetables in a matter of seconds, leaving behind no unpleasant lumps and little chunks.
Silky Smooth Drinks
If you look at the original Magic Bullet model with 250 watts, it could only avoid lumps if you blended soft ingredients like bananas and protein powder, anything dense or hard like carrots and even greens and there would be lumps. But with the RX model, it will pulverize those dense and hard ingredients into a liquid form so smooth you’d think it’s juice, but unlike juice it will have retained all the nutrients and fiber.
If you’re looking for good power and performance, the RX rocks. For those looking for a more reasonable priced machine while still having the power and performance to liquefy drinks without lumps, they may find it’s previous model NutriBullet Pro 900 to be the better way to go.
How Loud Is It?
It is a louder beast compared to other models, but this is because the motor is so much more powerful as well. If you are blending up smoothies or protein shakes very early in the morning, you may make a lot of noise and wake up your room mate or family.
Using The Machine
Auto SMART Technology
Unlike the other previous models of Bullet blenders, the NutriBullet RX uses the SMART technology. Once you put the jar on the base, the “G” button on the base will turn green which signifies that it’s starting to blend on it’s own. After it starts blending you can just walk away, because it uses a pre-programmed blending cycle that lasts 60 seconds, once the time is up it will stop on it’s own. You can stop the blending at any time just by pressing a switch on the side of the base.
For me personally, I think 60 seconds is too long. When I’m making a banana and almond milk smoothie, I only blend it for about 10 seconds or less. So for some people, this feature may not be that useful. Some have commented that they prefer the older NutriBullet models where you blend it manually for about 10 seconds. But as I have mentioned, with the RX model you can stop the blending at any time by pressing the switch on the side of the base.
Soup Making Feature
One of the key features of the NutriBullet RX is the addition of a heating element. Just press the “G” button on the base to activate, and it has a 7-minute heating cycle that blends your ingredients and turn it into piping hot pureed soup. To use the heating feature you must use the 45oz pitcher and not the jars.
Once you press the “G” button, it will red which signifies that it’s doing it’s job. Be sure not to press the button while blending smoothies or you’ll get hot drinks.
Easy to Clean
Cleaning takes only a couple of seconds and is really simple. The quickest way is to just rinse the jars and lids under warm tap water with a bit of dish soap, or you can put them in the dishwasher on the top rack. Only wash the blades by hand, not in the dishwasher. The jar that you used for blending comes with a lip ring that can be put on it for drinking, when you’re done blending you can just drink right out of the jar, giving you one less thing to clean.
Never wash the motor base with water, only wipe it with a cloth. You should also check the interior of the base and make sure no debris is collecting in any nooks and crannies, this will ensure your blades can lock onto the base efficiently.

The NutriBullet RX comes in a bundle with a 10-pieces accessories. The different jars and other parts can be purchased separately on Amazon.
Is It Worth The Money?
With the new features and much more powerful motor, it certainly comes with a heavier price tag. So are those features worth the extra dollars? For me, I’d not a big fan of blending hands-free, I’d rather just press a button and watch while it blends. But some people may find the SMART feature helps them with multi-tasking when busy in the kitchen.
The heating feature is also quite a nice addition, I love making soups and this feature can definitely encourage more intake of vegetables. It also comes with a recipe book which will help inspire you to make meals on this blender.
To me, I’m on a budget and I’m mostly using blenders to make smoothies, and the main thing is I want the texture to be smooth and without any lumps. The 2.3 horsepower and 1700 watt motor is great, but not necessary when a 900 watt motor can blend up drinks that’s almost as smooth.
The SMART technology is not of much use to me, and if your needs are similar to mine, then I’d recommend you choose the NutriBullet Pro 900 instead, which gets the job done at a lower cost.
The NutriBullet RX is a very powerful beast, and it also comes with a heating element and SMART hands-free blending technology that some may really enjoy. In many ways it can compete with high-end blenders like the Vitamix, but yet it is not quite as expensive. It’s really down to what your personal preferences are, and whether you have those extra dollars to splurge.
For the average joe who just wants to blend healthy smoothies and protein shakes, I think the NutriBullet 900 is more than sufficient to get the job done. But for those with a higher budget and are looking for ultimate power and performance, as well as more convenience and multi-tasking features, then the RX is definitely a wise choice also.
