Are Clif Bars Healthy? – Clif Bar Review

Whenever I’m feeling lazy or I need to prepare food that doesn’t take up much space, I always consider bringing Clif Bars, which is 100% vegan and cruelty free. It is a breeze preparing lunch for work by just grabbing a few bars and putting them in my bag. One bar provides 250 calories and comes with about 5g of fat and 10g of protein).

Are Clif Bars healthy? In my opinion it’s a much healthier option than regular granola bars or candy bars, but the fat and protein content is a bit high, so likely you can gain weight on it if you eat them all day and not move.

It uses 70% organic ingredients and they contain a variety of 23 vitamins and minerals, great to know if you are busy and plan on replacing a meal with a Clif Bar. They also come in 19 varieties of mouth-watering flavors, my personal favorite is crunchy peanut butter and oatmeal walnut raisin. In this review I will be walking you through some of my favorite aspects of Clif Bars.

19 Flavors – Find and Try Them All

Clif Bars come in 19 awesome flavors. They’re widely available in many stores and is one of the best selling vegan products in the world. Most stores where I live only carry a few kinds, but you can find all flavors online at places like Amazon.

I have tried many of the 19 flavors over the years, and as I’ve mentioned before the crunchy peanut butter one is the tastiest one imo, I also like the oatmeal raisin and walnut. You can buy them individually, or buy them in a box of 6 or 12. A lot of times I buy several boxes of 12 packs, especially if they’re on sale. It usually goes for about $1.50 when bought individually.

The crunchy peanut butter has a very strong peanut buttery flavor and taste, that’s good if you’re a fan of peanut butter. If you want a low fat flavor then go with the apricot which only has 3.5 grams of fat per bar, which is just over 12% calories from fat. The apricot is sweet and it has been said by some people that it tasted like orange.

Here is a list of all 19 flavors of Clif Bars (In no particular order)

1. Nuts & Seeds
2. Carrot Cake
3. Apricot
4. White Chocolate Macadamia Nut
5. Black Cherry Almond
6. Berry Pomegranate Chia
7. Peanut Toffee Buzz
8. Oatmeal Raisin Walnut
9. Coconut Chocolate Chip
10. Crunchy Peanut Butter
11. Chocolate Chip
12. Maple Nut
13. Sierra Trail Mix
14. Chocolate Chip Peanut Crunch
15. Blueberry Crisp
16. Banana Nut Bread
17. Chocolate Brownie
18. Chocolate Almond Fudge
19. Cool Mint Chocolate

Convenient, Healthy and Tasty

Clif Bars are highly dense energy bars that are designed to fuel the body while doing sports like racing, mountain climbing, cycling…etc It also serves as a satisfying meal replacement for people who don’t have time to make healthy meals, and want something with the nutrition and calories they’re looking for. Or you can just snack on them like I do, but be careful or you can easily overeat these things because they’re energy dense and very tasty. Whether you’re vegan or not, Clif Bars are very versatile, it can fit into anyone’s lifestyle whether you’re the high adventurer type or a growing child who needs to eat often.

70% Organic Ingredients/23 Vitamins and Minerals

You don’t have to worry about nutrient deficiency because Clif Bars are loaded with most of the vitamins and minerals your body needs. If you eat nothing but Clif Bars and eat 2,000 calories a day, you will be getting nearly 100% of ALL of the needed vitamins, minerals, proteins, fats (omega 3 and 6) and fiber in your diet.

Also good to know is Clif Bars uses 70% organic ingredients, so if you’re looking for a snack or meal replacement while trying your best to steer clear of any harmful insecticides and herbicides, Clif Bars would be my #1 recommendation.

Cronometer

Go to cronometer and check it out for yourself. If you don’t know, cronometer is a free online tool which accurately tracks your nutrient intakes including the most important micro and macro nutrient ratios. Go to “add food” and find Clif Bars, each bar has 250 calories so add 8 of them. Below you will find that nearly all the essential stuff is covered fully, the only ones not 100% met are magnesium and potassium, but they’re still about half way covered, and also vitamin D but you get that from the sun so no worries there!

It’s conclusive, Clif Bars are awesome

I personally eat Clif Bars regularly. It is a great vegan product and a dense source of energy, making it great to travel with. I have eaten them now for many years and it continues to be a regular part of my diet. I love the taste and enjoy knowing I’m getting the nutrition benefits from them. The only drawback is that they taste really good and it’s really easy to overeat them, I have known to eat 4 or 5 of them at one time! For the sake of you and your families’ health, eating foods that are made with healthy organic ingredients is going to do your health  and taste buds a favor.

Buying It Online VS In Stores

One of the benefits of buying them online is that you can find any of the 19 available Clif Bar flavors that might appeal to you, as oppose to in stores where they might only carry a small limited variety – even though I love crunchy peanut butter, it does get boring after eating them so often.

Another benefit of buying online is you’ll be able to find variety packs, which I haven’t ever seen on store shelves so I assume they’re only available online. If you are interested in trying one of each flavor, buying a variety pack is a great way to do so. Although a variety pack doesn’t include all 19 flavors, it does include 12, so you still get to try most of them.

    Great product review:)
I think is perfect for me in the summer when i am working many many hours( about 15,16 per day) and I don’t have any free moment to cook.
Also is a much better choice than eating out, sandwiches and burgers and other not so healthy things.
I believe these bars give you a lot of energy the power to go through a full day 🙂
Thanks for this brilliant idea and for sure i will try some.I will taste them and i will tell you my opinion which one is my favorite:)

    • hi Cristina,
wow nice work ethics, working 16 hrs a day! I need to start doing that myself. yeah its perfect for people like yourself who can’t leave the desk and need to keep working throughout the day. I would suggest maybe have a Clif Bar and a piece of fruit, that would be perfect. thanks for your comment!

I have seen clif bars at costco and wondered about how they are different from something like a granola bar. However, I didn’t know that they stand out so much from the pack as a nutrient bar. If you eat it based on 2000 calorie diet then you are practically not nutrient deficient which is absolutely good news. With any kind of nutrient deficit, our body is bound to shut down, lose health and gain weight in the process. Not to mention that the clif bar is vegan which also means that we can eat it worry free because it has not harmed any animals in the process of making it. Love it. Thank you for the recommendation.

    • hi Blame,
Clif Bars are essentially granola bars with a balanced amounts of micro and macro nutrients. some granola bars in the market today may not be healthy for you because of an unbalanced amounts of fats, sugars, not enough fiber.. etc but Clif Bars are designed to fuel the body with the proper amounts of everything it needs to perform. so you got it right, the nutrition in Clif Bars really makes it a healthy snack or meal replacement. thanks for your comment!

Clif Bars sounds like a great alternative to one or two meals, or when you are going to exercise hard. I have eaten some different kinds of bars, and afterward found out they wasn’t healthy at all. I guess 100 % vegan is good:) Thanks for the tips about cronometer, have never seen that site before.

Hey Linda, these bars are great for any kind of situation. After workout, pre-workout, breakfast, lunch, dinner… you name it. I like how they’re only 250 calories, so it’s just enough substance to get rid of hunger but no enough to make you feel too full and bloated. It’s perfect for situations like bringing it on a plane ride, if you dont like plane food. Or bringing it with you on a marathon run or a 10k… thanks for reading

These bars seem to have become a staple in our household. My kids who are very active are always grabbing a bar for the go. The crunchy peanut butter ones also seem to be the favorite here at our house. If I don’t get one myself right off the bat I wont get one at all. The wife always says “you snooze, you lose!”
    Thanks for the review

I’ve read a lot of reviews online and it seems that lots of people like the crunchy peanut butter. I think it reminds me of a peanut butter sandwich. sometimes I wish they carry more variety in stores though, sometimes they only have a few annoying ones, so frustrating. I hate macadamia nut and they always have that in my stores, sometimes thats the only one they have.

    • I’m no expert but I’ve heard that just because food is past the expiry date doesn’t mean they’re no good. In fact, the best way to determine if it’s okay to eat is by smelling it, if it smells off in any way then chuck it, if it’s smells okay then I’d just eat it.
